Piaf The Show

October 5, Burton Cummings Theatre

Tickets start at $39.50 (plus fees) and go on sale Thursday, May 18 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster

WINNIPEG, MB. - With a million tickets sold in more than 30 countries and acclaimed reviews worldwide PIAF!, THE SHOW a musical celebration of the life and music of the legendary French chanteuse EDITH PIAF – comes to the Burton Cummings Theatre, October 5, 2017.

Conceived and directed by the Nice-based theatrical maverick Gil Marsalla and starring Anne Carrere, a young French performer hailed as “Edith Piaf’s legitimate musical heiress” PIAF!, THE SHOW premiered in 2015 as a tribute to “The Swallow of Montmartre” on the centennial on her birthday and was inspired by the award-winning movie La Vie En Rose.  In two 45-minute acts, the show narrates the rags-to-riches story of the Parisian singer’s career through her unforgettable songs, complemented by a visual tapestry of previously unreleased photographs and images of famous Parisian locations of the Edith Piaf era.

Gil Marsalla, producer and director of PIAF!, THE SHOW, first met future star Anne Carrere in 2014, when she auditioned for another of his productions, Paris! The ShowCaptivated by her skills and natural charisma, Marsalla offered her the role of Edith Piaf in his new production.

“I have worked in show business – on and off stage – for 25 years and mounted shows around the world. But to this day, Anne Carrere is my greatest artistic discovery yet. Don’t you dare touch or polish her, she is a diamond that you want to keep raw – such is the nature of her pure and natural talent…” says Marsalla of his leading lady.

Equally impressed with Carrere were Piaf’s long-time collaborators, composer Charles Dumont, Ginou Richer, Personal Piaf secretary, and singer Germaine Ricord, who described Anne’s skills as “that of Edith Piaf at the top of her career.

Anne Carrere (performer) made her debut in large-scale musical theatre as the star of PIAF!, THE SHOW. A native of Puget Ville, a small town in the South of France, she began preparing for a stage career in her early teens, studying voice, acting, and a variety of vocal and dance styles at the renowned art school Salon-de-Provence. She later pursued classical musical training, playing flute and piano.

Before seriously pursuing her passion for the traditional French chanson, Anne participated in numerous French talent competitions and TV shows, showcasing her singing and dancing skills in diverse styles including classical, jazz and modern jazz.

Alliance Française is pleased to support the tour and assist in the promotion on a local level.

“Édith Piaf's music still stirs deep emotions,” said Alan Nobili, Alliance Française du Manitoba Executive Director. “She remains an icon of Paris and chanson française. She inspired and keeps inspiring numerous artists. We are proud to contribute to the success of this remarkable show in Winnipeg!”

Alliance Française is the largest cultural organization in the world. It is dedicated to teaching and promoting French and its diverse culture through a network of over 800 establishments in 137 countries. The Naked Magicians are Dropping Their Pants in Kamloops

THE NAKED MAGICIANS, THE NAUGHTIEST AND FUNNIEST MAGIC SHOW IN THE WORLD COMES TO KAMLOOPS

TICKETS GO ON SALE FRIDAY, MARCH 10 AT NOON

Monday, March 6, 2017 – The Naked Magicians, the world’s naughtiest and funniest magic show strips away the top hats and capes to promise full-frontal illusions when the show appears at The Sagebrush Theatre in Kamloops on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 8:00 pm. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 10 at 12:00 pm.

Starring the clever and seductive Mike Tyler and Christopher Wayne, two of Australia’s most famous magicians, The Naked Magicians combine magic and muscles with riotous laughs that take magic to a whole new level.

“Good magicians don't need sleeves and great magicians don't need pants,” says Tyler.

“Deliciously naughty” and “my cheeks still hurt from laughing so much” are among the most common online posts from audience members of sold-out shows in Australia, Great Britain and Asia. The Sunday Herald declares The Naked Magicians as “definitely one of the most visually stimulating magic shows in the world,” and Fringe Review UK says “we were left with laugh induced aching jaws.”

The 31-year old buff bros went from best friends to partners in prestidigitation in 2014 following several boisterous audience members asking them to make their clothes disappear.

"It's kind of crazy because magic is the second-oldest profession ever and we couldn't believe that no one had combined the two things that everyone loves — magic and nudity," says Wayne.

The Aussie duo have been performing magic for nearly 20 years. The broad-shouldered Wayne, a proud owner of a freakishly long tongue, is the first Australian magician in TV history to have his own TV series. More Than Magic aired in Australia, New Zealand, England, as well as the United States. The sporty tan lines and incredible physique seen on stage hint at Tyler’s Speedo-wearing days. He swam competitively at the Australian National Championships and Pan Pacific Games before becoming a professional magician for corporate events around the world.

“Being on stage doing magic without relying on pockets or sleeves does add that extra challenge and ups our game,” Wayne says. “When we say ‘abracadabra,’ the audience isn’t always looking at our hands,” Tyler jokes.

Tickets to The Naked Magicians are $49.00 including all service charges. VIP packages are available for $59.00 including all service charges. Tickets are available online at www.KamloopsLive.ca. This show includes coarse language, sexual references and is intended for audiences 18+.

Magic with a Naughty Twist: The Naked Magic Show

Seamless illusions are challenging to execute under ordinary circumstances, but when magicians lack sleeves or pockets, audiences may well wonder where they hide the tools of their trade. This adults-only (18+) show strips away all concealments to astound viewers with baffling magic tricks, served up with (literally) cheeky humor. The “naked” part of the show’s name isn’t just a tease—the Australian natives deliver on the “full frontal” illusions as promised.

On June 24, Beverly Hills’ Saban Theatre will welcome a unique show featuring a combination its creators couldn’t believe had never been tried before: nudity and magic. “The Naked Magic Show,” is the brainchild of Australian performers and self-described best mates Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler, and has kicked off its latest tour of North America in April.

The duo has performed their sassy, racy magic act to rave reviews and sold-out audiences in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada, and the United States. Both had compiled impressive resumes as accomplished performers before the inspiration struck to drop their pants. Wayne honed his magical talents on TV as the host of the show More Than Magic, while Tyler, a former competitive swimmer, discovered his love of sleight-of-hand after his university days. The quick-witted pair put high-quality entertainment foremost, working hard (and working out) to ensure that their show is both mentally and visually appealing.

Wayne and Tyler credit the creation of “The Naked Magic Show” to audience reactions after the film Magic Mike came out. After they’d been asked about the size of their magic wands and whether they could make their clothes disappear, the pair began to wonder if they could create the world’s first naughty magic show. The show’s immediate popularity showed that mixing stripping and illusion was an idea whose time had definitely come.

The popularity of “The Naked Magic Show” in venues all over the world demonstrates the appeal of this sexy, humorous act to audiences of all kinds. While it’s an obvious fit for a special girls’ night out or superior bachelorette party, the show is for anyone who appreciates excellent magic, entertaining wit, and Australian eye candy.

“The Naked Magic Show” performs Friday, June 24 at 7:30 at the Saban Theatre at 8840 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Come see the show audiences and critics praise for its comedy, expert magic, and toned good looks—it’s the hottest magic show in town.
